I really gotta give it to NERD, as the album will emulate the exact feelings from the title. Seeing Sounds is a breathe of fresh air since last November’s Graduation. The album consists of 12 distinct, individual cuts and each one carries a certain emotion. Whether you wanna wild out to the sounds of the horns on Everyone Nose or stomp someone to the deafening guitar on Anti-Matter, the group keeps it interesting with their selective choice of musical direction. Do get one thing through your head, that this is a music album. This is not a rap album. Not a rock album. Not a punk album. Nor is it urban/alternative. This is raw music on a leash and you’re being fed the mind bending scores piece by piece. The production is on point and carries a mixed feel between the last 2 albums. If there is one thing Pharrell is good at besides making music, its writing a mean hook. I don’t think I’ve heard him sing a wack hook. The man is on point. And I’m also glad to hear Shae a lot more on the tracks this time around. It is sad that the album is being released on the same day as Dwayne 3, but I believe good music excels in the end regardless. Not to down play the other album, but I feel the NERD deserve their own release date and require a massive promotion. However, they have been busy promoting the album on the GITD tour and I hope they return with their own tour dates. I won’t speak too much about the track, cuz the words will do no justice to the actual feel. BTW, what ever happened to “Laser Gun Carrying”? Hopefully, it was a false track-list, cuz I’ll be pissed if they release it in Japan or so. Any who, this is definitely the pick for the month of June.
