This has to be one of the illest looking vinyls PERIOD. Stones Throws latest recruit Mayer Hawthorne & The County drop their debut single “Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out” on a heart-shaped vinyl. Only 1000 were pressed and are sold out at most location. The site is currently waiting for their final shipment. This is a must have for all vinyl lovers. So after this drops (which is today), none of ya’ll so-called “critics” should ever be caught sayin’ “Hip Hop Is Dead!” (whatever that means anyways). Ludacris is the current definition of what this art is all about and where it needs to be heading. The underrated MC kept knocking it out the park for ya fools and he’s finally gonn’ get the recognition he deserves after this one. TOTM is structured to play out like an audio movie where every song feels like a scene which carrys a certain emotion. The co-star list is heavyyy as it ranges from the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Chris Rock, Jay-Z, current BFF T.I., Nas, Plies, Ving Rhames, T-Pain and etc. The guy got frikkin’ Ving Rhames. WHO DOES THAT!?! With a star studded cast, director ‘Cris doesn’t hold back to have the best-of-the-best handle the score of his masterpiece. The production lineup starrs: DJ Primier, 9th Wonder, Don Cannon, Clinton Sparks, Trackmasters, Dark Child, Swizz Beatz and plenty more. Whether you love Luda or hate his southern guts (I highly recommend “Everybody Hates Chris” co-starring Chris Rock for the haters!), the man has packed nuff goodies for all to enjoy. My personal favourites on the album include the first single starring Mayweather, Undisputed, One More Drink (co. T-Pain), Call Up The Homies (co. The Game/Willie Northpole), I Do It For Hip Hop (co. Nas/Jay-Z) and MVP. With his remarkable flow and witty wordplay, Luda proves his leadership while also playing the comic relief. TOFT drops today and can be caught playing at a local music store near you.

As much as I’m satisfied with the music, I just can’t help feeling blue-balled at the end. Don’t get me wrong. The music and production on this project is real refreshing, original and mind bending. I guess I’m just a little held back by the “major” changes made to some of the tracks on the final cut. The album starts of with a haunted choir accompanied by the 808 bass, piano and real unorthodox snares. Genius! The opening track “Say You Will” really sets the tone for rest of the album, as Ye will continue to take you through his roller coaster of emotions. Anyone who hears this album will instantly tell you that the man doesn’t hold back what so ever. He’s got a problem and you’re going to hear about it. I really dont know why everyone is hating on the Auto-Tune, consider he’s BARELY on it throughout the album. Side Note: the effects of auto-tune on the records is suppose to represent the “heartbroken” side of him. The man’s been singing since College Dropout and he continues to use his own vocals with very little help from the pitch corrector. The production is very original and is bound to open the doors to several copy cats out there. It’s a personal project for Ye, but I’m sure several others will be able to relate to the subject matter. I like all the tracks on the album, as they only seem to grow on ya over time. I just wish he hadn’t changed “Welcome to Heartbreak” and “Robocop”. The original Robocop is soo heavy with the robot sounds and the arrangement was flawless. Also, the synth on WTHB was waaaaay better than the slow piano that now accompanies the track. And to spare ya’ll, I’m not even gonna talk about those drums. However, the track always gets better after the first verse (for me though). I think the instant classic on the entire album is the Yeezy and Jeezy collaboration on Amazing. No word of a lie, but the title sums it all. The way Jeezy in introduced on the track is monster and I really need to find out which synth they used for that haunting effect. *same synth can be hear near the end of Love Lockdown. The album will release Monday, Nov 24th and will be re-released on Dec 16th with a special edition packaging courtesy of Kaws. If ya got the extra flow or are a big Kaws, cop it again on Dec 16th. Otherwise, during this recession, it’s understood. Oh, and the collabo with Weezy is pretty dope still. Kid Cudi is on 2 tracks and he definitley held his spot. Overall, if you’re a Ye fan this will be a special treat for ya. And for those ignorant cats, who still think this is Ye’s version of “rap” or some dumb sh!t, just look over to the left and pick up the Ludacris album still. I’ll be on that in a minute. I can’t wait to test out this album (for the 808s) in the whip. 2 fingers!
