While the rest of the world idolizes the power stars and athletes, my idols besides my family are William Hanna & Joseph Barbera. Their cartoons are the reason for my becoming and inspiration. I’ve always looked at life through the lens of an animator and its all due to their vision which they shared through bright colors, warm characters and orchestra sounds. I feel real blessed and lucky that I was raised with Tom & Jerry, The Flintstones, Scooby Doo, Magilla Gorilla, The Smurfs and The Jetsons. I’d also include Woody Woodpecker, Thundercats and The Pink Panther, but they weren’t from the Hanna-Barbera family. Nonetheless, I’m glad that I was there and was lucky nuff to be brought up in the golden age of animation. And when I do win that first Garmmy, I’m sure as hell gonn dedicate it to these legends. Bes’ believe dat!

1. So the rumors about Johnny Depp (as The Riddler) being in the sequel to Dark Knight have been all false. The chances of us seeing the next Bat-flick won’t even surface till 2012-ish or so. Nolan has thought about the sequel but that definitely won’t be his next project. All that aside, if they don’t get Depp for that role, it’ll be a damn shame. At this point, I really can’t see anyone else filling those shoes except for Scissorhands himself. Anything else is just a G-D-Shame. No Depp, no Riddler.

2. Roman deserved that win and the entire crowd knew it. Beltran went in, but that split decision was a d!ck move.

3. Keri Hilson’s album, In a New World, smashes Jimmy’s Pray IV Reign. I expected a lot 4m Jim this time around. You know its a problem when you’re being compared to a R&B album.

Yesterday was Waffles and Beatz official 1 year anniversary. It was a big day for all of us, with the crazy series of events x parties and Spooks’ Culture Show performance. Much love and respect to everyone who came out to all the events we ran yesterday. As a small company with a small loving community, we’d like to say THANKS to all who drop by and pay us some mind. We really appreciate it. Also, I’ma hella proud of the street team and the staff on board. I will be posting some of the pictures later this week. I just wish the video footage was just a tad bit appropriate for me to share that with ya’ll. I haven’t checked my phone or my email this entire weekend, so I apologize in advance. 2 fingers!

1. Congratulations to Danny Boyle and the entire team of SDM for taking home the big statue at the Oscars. And SMH @ me for catching glimpses of the show even though I fully said I would avoid it.
2. Drake’s So Far Gone is exacty what ppl were expecting from 808’s and Heartbreak (but instead just got singing). I think Drake was able to deliver the correct amount of singing/rapping without going over board on either. Dude has a song with Peter Bjorn & John. How ill is that?!? G’Luck to him and hope to hear his next project soon.
3. It’s 2009 and ppl need to wake the fruck up and educate themselves on different religions and cultures. Don’t pride yourself for living in a multi-cultural country when you can’t even differentiate one identity from another. Interesting article on ppl who don religious garments at CNN.
4. I like when ppl tend to cross boundaries and explore different genres of music. I give it to ppl like KanYe, Jay Electronica, and others, who are willing to go to the other side and do something different. But remember, DON’T FORGET TO COME BACK!!! It’s been a minute since we’ve a solid rap effort from anyone. Ya’ll can hate on Fif, but he’s one of the only few left who’s putting out rap music. Rappers need to stay rapping and everyone else needs to stay doing what they do best. I’m really looking forward to Jada’s The Last Kiss. Sooo underrated.
5. I refrained and tried my best from making any comments regarding the Brown situation. But after seeing Rhianna’s face, I too would feel like putting a dent in that dude’s face and career. Even if she did him wrong, there’s a limit. That clown just took it too far. And SHAME ON THE LAPD (although it was expected) for the leaked photos.
6. There’s no such thing as Emo-Rap. If ya’ll think Ye started that, track back to the Marshall Mathers LP.
7. Big ups to T.I. for making GQ Best Dressed list. I’m still getting over the extremely angled hat in the flick. Well done!
8. I still think they should not release the Watchmen. Even with all changes and what not, they shouldn’t just release it for the sake of it. Would suck to taint a lengendary legacy that it carries. Then again, the true fans will still appreciate it and see through its flaws if any.
9. What I do and will continue to do should not be mistaken for a joke, a hobby or anything that you think is far-less from an appropriate career. Cutting ppl off does not make you anti-social, but just thaaaat much closer from achieving your dream. Ppl will hate and you will encounter several road-blocks, but the trick is to channel that negativity into productivity. If I’ve lost contact with you for whatever reason, believe me, it was for the better.

1. I’ve been waiting for Saigon to drop since ‘04 and ain’t sh!t popped. Yeah he gave us Warning Shots, Return of the Yardfather, Moral of the Story, DJ Whoo Kid x JB Present: Abandon Nation…but SO WHAT?!? In my opinion, Just shifted his focus to Jay Electronica. Heck, I’ve seen more pics, interviews and footage of them two together than I’ve seen of Sai and Blaze. This album is long over due and we sure as hell deserve it this year (same goes for Detox).

2. The Oscars and the Grammys are just events held by rich folks to give out awards to their rich BFF friends.

3. Juelz Santana should have been where Lil Wayne is today. We all know before Weezy popped off, Bandana was the topic of discussion everywhurr after What the Games been Missing dropped.  I can’t feel my face was suppose to come ages ago, and somewhurr along the release the project disappeared (along with Juelz) and Weezy became the new face of the game. If only Juelz wasn’t caught in the house drama BS, he would have had it just a good or even greater than Weezy. He deserved it and still does. Aaeh!

4. As an ex Dipset fan, I miss the homie Cam. He was our Harlem dude that we took for granted and instead we gave passage to all the wrong fools. Sure Cam’s style was hella childish at times, but he was swaggin’ waay before ya’ll even knew the word existed (SPLASH!). “…Snow so White, only thing missin’ are 7 dwarves.” Wow!

5. Jimmy is the new Cam. And he’s just as funny. BAWLINNNN’!!!!!!!!!!!!! (<— Jimmy talking greasy. Face expression @ 0:30 = Priceless)

Heartbreaking news has flooded the mass blog sites. Dark Knight has not been nominated for Best Picture of the Year award. Instead, the lames decided to give the green light to “The Reader”. Out of the 6 major categories, DK is only nominated for Best Supporting Actor (Ledger), which we all saw coming way before the frikkin movie even got released. Are you really gonn’ blue ball us like that? Couldn’t you have just acknowledge the fact that it was a good GREAT movie and given it the much deserved nomination and then taken it away by giving it to BLAHBLAHFROGSH!T. My hard earned dollars are on Slumdog Millionaire at the moment. Anything else is a damn shame! I really hope they can read between the lines. – Dusty.Loops

It’s reported that the bullet went through Grant’s back, ricochet off the ground and hit his lungs. Grant, who has a 4-year daughter, died 7 hours later. Niice going officers of the GOD DAMN LAW! Over the summer i got word of 2 of my favourite actors Josh Brolin and Jeffrey Wright getting arrested by the police out in Louisiana for some bullshit…well here’s the video folks and well….i guess celebrities get the bullshit“proper” treatment from cops sometimes too….the charges on Brolin, Wright and the 5 other men they were with were dropped, but does this video add pressure for the prosecution of the cops now?

…that Hip Hop has seen its highs and its lows, and at this stage in the culture, we’re just in our experimental mode. Is it wrong for me to blast my Gang Starr, while rocking a Finger Eleven tee and Nike SBs? I can understand why so many ppl get ansy about today’s music and say how Hip Hop is gone (whatever that means!), but now we got ppl who are complaining about what ppl should be rocking or not, for them to remain “Hip Hop”. Are we forgetting the real purpose of our culture? An outlet for our creativity. A voice for the mute. A unity for the community. Ppl need to calm the fcuk down and enjoy the transition that our culture is going through. You may be bitter now, but remember that it’s always sunny after the rain. So shaat it and enjoy it. I hear alot of ppl talking ridiculous smack ’bout the new Ye direction. Don’t you think he knows much better than to drop a dud or go padded-room on ya’ll like that? Soon as someone gets a lil’ creative, ppl sh!t on ‘em hard. Relax and just let the dude channel his energy through a different medium (even if it happens to be the dreaded auto-tune). I can’t wait to see the whole block bumping that sh!t the day it drops. Act tough now and then secretly dance to it in your closet. S’all good! It’ll take a few months for you to catch up, but you’ll be thurr with the rest of em. No one gets it at first, but as long as they do, its all good. Enjoy music cuz music is life. Listen to whatever you want cuz its not gonn degrade your character. Don’t get caught in the stereotype. BTW, when is fcuk is Crunk Rock dropping?!?!?

…the fight over the weekend was definitely not impressive. Sure Kimbo got knocked, but the other dude’s victory was fluke-ish. If it hadn’t been for Kimbo slipping off like that, he would have never gotten on top and delivered that combo. Then again, Kimbo did deserve for nothing resisting. But, you could tell from Petruzelli’s face, that even he couldn’t believe the sh!t was happening, ha. Congrats! And, I’m really not looking forward to this coming month, which is gonn’ be filled with endless midterms, assignments, labs and every Tom/Dick/Harry repeating Russell Peters jokes with accents. I watched his special, and it was watchable. Period. Real glad he didn’t recycle and had some good points every now and then. However, I’m still on Kill The Messenger audio. It just seemed much fluid and powerful. But that’s just my opinion. You do ya thing Russ’. Good looking on having Startin’ From Scratch as you DJ for the event. Gotta represent! BTW, I’m already getting sick of all the SLU remixes and freestyles. Just tell you brother, grandmother, and your baby-daddy’s southern cuzin to drop the mic and step away from the record. Go make some original sh!t and help contribute to great music. We seriously need a remix/freestyle cut off limit. A Milli was too much as it was, but I appreciated Wayne putting the final nail on the mix. Felt bad for some of the other idiots who still continued to massacre that beat (definitely not in a good way!).  Final note: G’Luck everybody on ya exams!

…that in my opinion, Chris Rock is one of the greatest and most consistent black comedians of our time. Ain’t nobody left in the game, who can deliver a solid special, take a couple years off in Hollywood and then come right back to deliver another one like he never left. So many comedians hit it big with their stand-up and never bother to sharpen that tool once they get one-too many side roles in movies. Similar to rappers who spit real raw (sh!t that actually makes sense) and freestyle for hours on the radio, until they get a record deal and go limp dick! The thing I really admire bout Rock is his aggressiveness. To my knowledge, we only have a few aggressive comedians (Pryor, Mac, Lopez…just to name a few). After seeing Kill The Messenger this past weekend, I’m really glad to see Rock back in the game and claiming his throne from these clown-ass-no-joke-having jesters. With Russell Peters dropping tomorrow with his “brand spanking new” material, I really hope he’s got the flame to follow after Rock’s weekend massacre. The Rock’s in the motherfcuking building!

Side note: Been so busy with sh!t and haven’t had a minute to myself for anything. I been slacking on the beats, but been pushing Spooks though. Definitely got new material coming from him. We got a couple fresh ideas down for his super-themed mixtape, but not quite sure which one to run with 4 now. I just finished making this loop not too long ago today within the 10 minutes of spare time I had. Peep the loop and have a good one. 2 fingers!
