Peep it from 3:12. I need to hear a Jay Elex x Rae x Ghost collabo.
Word is, this is Jay’s single. Video was shot in Nepal, by this dude named Deacon, some months back since I seen the pics of it on his Facebook. Let’s hope the debut album is in the making since “What the F*ck Is A Jay Electronica” is one of the BEST mixtape/album EVER! Beat is bangin, has a Madlib sound to it, which blew me away coz it aint Bleezy’s style. Be sure to get Jay’s mixtape here if you havn’t already.
In my opinion, here are some of the illest rappers to rhyme over some of the illest Dilla beats over the past years. If I failed to mention someone, believe me, I’ve already included them in one of the other posts. If not, feel free to blog-hate on me until the end of the day, ha. There was an art to rhyming over a Dilla instrumental and not everyone could do it. Those who were close to him knew the method and those who followed him for a minute developed it over the years. Here’s a list of my 10 in no order what so ever. 1. Lupe Fiasco – Much More Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser. With the crazy buss behind the Jedi rapper, it wasn’t until this track that I began taking an interest back in his mixtape era. A very wise selection for a beat with the pretty Yummy Bingham on the hook. 2. Black Milk x Guilty Simpson – Freestyle Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser. Dilla played a mentor to both of ‘em and you can definitely hear the influence in Black Milk’s chop game. I was always a fan of Simpson’s raw delivery and slick word play. 3. Kid Cudi – Cudi Get Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser. As dope as Cudi is, he get twice as more respect for jumping on this classic beat (Wild off the Ruff Draft EP). 4. MED – Push Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser. Possibly one of the illest slept on street/club bangers. It made the noise, but I always felt this joint was always unappreciated it. Shout outs to MED! That last MED x Just Blaze collabo was straight pineapples! 5. Jay Electronica – A Prayer for Michael Vic & T.I. Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser. *I have no clue who this guy is but his Uzi weighs a ton. *sarcasm Peep the rest of ‘em after the jump. (more…)
1. I’ve been waiting for Saigon to drop since ’04 and ain’t sh!t popped. Yeah he gave us Warning Shots, Return of the Yardfather, Moral of the Story, DJ Whoo Kid x JB Present: Abandon Nation…but SO WHAT?!? In my opinion, Just shifted his focus to Jay Electronica. Heck, I’ve seen more pics, interviews and footage of them two together than I’ve seen of Sai and Blaze. This album is long over due and we sure as hell deserve it this year (same goes for 2. The Oscars and the Grammys are just events held by rich folks to give out awards to their rich BFF friends. 3. Juelz Santana should have been where Lil Wayne is today. We all know before Weezy popped off, Bandana was the topic of discussion everywhurr after What the Games been Missing dropped. I can’t feel my face was suppose to come ages ago, and somewhurr along the release the project disappeared (along with Juelz) and Weezy became the new face of the game. If only Juelz wasn’t caught in the house drama BS, he would have had it just a good or even greater than Weezy. He deserved it and still does. Aaeh! 4. As an ex Dipset fan, I miss the homie Cam. He was our Harlem dude that we took for granted and instead we gave passage to all the wrong fools. Sure Cam’s style was hella childish at times, but he was swaggin’ waay before ya’ll even knew the word existed (SPLASH!). “…Snow so White, only thing missin’ are 7 dwarves.” Wow! 5. Jimmy is the new Cam. And he’s just as funny. BAWLINNNN’!!!!!!!!!!!!! (<— Jimmy talking greasy. Face expression @ 0:30 = Priceless)
These lyrics are hella left-field. The concept was so dope that Jay even got Nas rhyming over movie scores (Queens Get the Money – Untitled). For those of ya who still have no clue and ask WTF is a Jay Electronica? (<<< click for mixtape link) Peep the audio, take in the lyrics and listen to a short intro to Jay Elec by Just Blaze and Erykah Badu after the jump. Right click the song title and SAVE AS to download the tracks. 2 fingers! Act 1: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge) Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip.
