Son of the legendary cartoonist Vaughn Bode, Mark Bode further channels and expands the “family style” through his own drawings, graffiti-inspired murals, tattoo work, and animations. Combining his father’s iconic figures, such as the Cheech Wizard and Cobalt 60, with his own variations and original characters, he creates artwork distinctly inspired by both past and present comic universes. I’ve been drawing Bode’s characters blindly since Grade 8 with no knowledge of its origin till bout Grade 10. I too thought they were creations of Dondi, but he only helped elevate them. The Bode legacy will live on forever.
